Community Committees

The City of Ryde has a long-term Community Strategic Plan that identifies the community’s main priorities and aspirations for the future. All other Council plans, such as the Four-Year Delivery Program plan and One-Year Operational Plan, sit under and reflect and support the realisation of these long-term objectives.

Council’s Community Committees are an important mechanism for consultation, advice and feedback to staff on the implementation and review of these priorities, plans and strategies.

Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the Community Committees closed on 7 September 2025, however Expression of Interests for the Heritage, Small Business, and the Sports, Recreation and Leisure Community Committees have been extended until 28 February 2026. Festival and the Arts Community Committee

Informs Council of community views and likely impact regarding the delivery and development of festival and events and the progress of the arts and cultural sector.

Heritage Community Committee

Advises and assists Council to promote, conserve and celebrate places that are of natural, indigenous, cultural, social, aesthetic and/or historic significance within the City of Ryde.

Inclusion and Wellbeing Community Committee

Provides advice to Council to enhance the City of Ryde, as an inclusive community that is accessible for all residents and visitors so they can actively participate in all aspects of community and civic life.

Multicultural Community Committee

Provides advice to Council to ensure that Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) residents in the City of Ryde are welcomed and able to participate actively and inclusively in all aspects of community and civic life.

Ryde Youth Council Community Committee

Provides advice to Council on matters relating to the needs and concerns of young people in the City of Ryde to ensure they are able to participate and engage actively in all aspects of community and civic life.

Small Business Community Committee

Provides direction and support to assist Council in implementing the Economic Development Strategy.

Sport, Recreation and Leisure Community Committee

Advises Council on all matters relating to cycling, sport, and recreation in the City of Ryde.

Sustainability Community Committee

Considers matters and informs Council of community views, priorities and topics regarding the natural environment and sustainability topics.

At the Council Meeting, Council endorsed the creation of (8) Community Committees for 2024-2028:

Evaluations

Applications received will be referred to the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Chief Executive Officer for evaluation.

Expressions of Interest (EOI)

1 August 2025
Expressions of Interest (EOI) are now open for all Community Committees. Applications can be submitted online using the EOI form, with applications closing on 7 September 2025.

Council Determination

A list of preferred candidates will be submitted to Council for endorsement, this is expected to be at the October 2025 Council Meeting.
All applicants will be advised of the outcome of their application.

Candidate Meetings Scheduled

Meetings will be scheduled with the successful candidates. These meetings will review the draft Terms of Reference for each committee and determine a meeting schedule for 2026. Members that require a Working with Children Check (WWCC) will be advised and have until the first meeting in 2026 to obtain their WWCC.

Expressions of Interest extended

At the 18th November Council meeting, expression of interest for the Heritage, Small Business, and the Sports, Recreation and Leisure Community Committees were extended until 28 February 2026.
