The City of Ryde is excited to announce its Youth Creative Competition 2023, a tremendous new opportunity for artists and writers aged 12-24 who live, work, or study in the Council area to have their talents recognised.

The competition will be held across three age groups - 12-15, 16-19, and 20-24 - with entries to address the theme: ‘Hope for the Future’.

In the Art Category, entrants are asked to submit a photo of a painting, drawing, photograph, sculpture, digital artwork, or collage.

Writers will need to submit a short story, fan fiction, poem, review, or any other piece of prose to a maximum of 1000 words.

Entries will be open from 1 July-31 October 2023, with judging to take place in November 2023. The following prizes will be awarded to the winners:

City of Ryde Mayor Clr Sarkis Yedelian OAM said the competition offered a fantastic vehicle for Ryde’s young artists and writers to express themselves.

“Talented young people are our hope for the future, so the theme of the Youth Creative Competition 2023 is very appropriate,” he said.

“I’m excited to see and read all of this year’s entries – I’m sure the creative spirit in the City of Ryde will produce many stunning pieces of work.”
