2021 Ryde Citizen of the Year Awards

Congratulations to the winners of the 2021 Citizen and Young Citizen of the Year Awards!

Citizen of the Year

Carmen Platt
Carmen is the founder of The Generous and The Grateful, a social enterprise that works with local charities to provide second-hand furniture and white goods to those in need. Through Carmen’s dedication, The Generous and The Grateful has provided furniture to 486 homes in the past year.

Special commendation goes to Rob Senior.

Young Citizen of the Year

Alex Noble
When he was 16 years old, Alex was told he may never walk again after he broke his neck and damaged his spinal cord while playing rugby. In the space of two years, Alex has inspired many with his positive outlook and motto “If I fight, you fight”.

Special commendation goes to Cameron Last.

We'd also like to thank the nominees for the amazing work they have accomplished to improve the lives of people in the City of Ryde community.

Australia Day Concert

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Council ran a small-scale event by holding the Battle of the Bands competition at Ryde Park, Ryde on Australia Day, 26 January 2021.

The live competition kicked off at 7 pm, with the top three “Battle of the Bands” battling it out. The Battle of the Bands 2020 winner, Underweather, also be performed live on stage.
