Ethnic Communities' Council of NSW (ECC)

A not-for-profit association that undertakes government-funded projects to fulfil our constitutional objectives and improve the range of services available to members of ethnic communities.

Federation of Ethnic Communities Council of Australia (FECCA)

The national peak body that represents Australians from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and monitors a wide range of issues including social welfare, employment, language policy and immigration.

Immigration and Citizenship

Department of Home Affairs website that provides information about citizenship in Australia, how to apply for visa, settling in Australia, and how to become a citizen.

Migration Council Australia (MCA)

An independent, non-partisan, not-for-profit body established to enhance the productive benefits of Australia’s migration and humanitarian programs.

Multicultural NSW

The leading agency for implementing the policy and legislative framework to support multicultural principles in NSW and promoting community harmony and social cohesion to achieve cultural and economic prosperity.

My Aged Care

A site for aged care service providers, community organisations, carers and other members of the community that provides information about cross-cultural resources.

Services Australia

Delivers government payments and services such as Centrelink and Medicare for refugees and for those new to living in Australia.

Settlement Services

Chinese Australian Service Society (CASS)

Assists newly-arrived Chinese-speaking migrants with settlement concerns including housing, employment, education as well as health and welfare issues through free face-to-face casework and referral services. The service is supported by the financial assistance from the Australian Government.

Community Migrant Resource Centre (CMRC)

A not-for-profit community based organisation with provision of a range of services for newly arrived migrants, refugees and humanitarian entrants, such as settlement service and training sessions.

Settlement Services International (SSI)

A community organisation that supports newcomers and other Australians who have experienced vulnerability, including refugees, people seeking asylum and culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities, to build capacity and enable them to overcome inequality.

Language Services

Adult Multicultural Education Services (AMES)

Offers assistance in multiple areas such as learning English and vocational education training courses, and specialised employment services.

Multicultural NSW Language Services

Provides comprehensive interpreting and translation services in 104 languages and dialects, including Auslan (Australian sign language).

SBS Language

Delivers impartial and independent Australian news, current affairs, business, sports, culture and community profiles in 68 different languages.

Translating and Interpreting Services (TIS NATIONAL)

Provides phone and on-site interpreting services to non-English speakers in over 150 languages.

Health Services

Multicultural HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C Service

Works with culturally diverse communities and with health services in NSW to reduce the impacts of HIV and viral hepatitis and provides information in over 20 languages.

NSW Multicultural Health Communication Service (MHCS)

Provides information and services to help health professionals communicate with non-English speaking communities throughout NSW. This service is funded by the NSW Department of Health.

Transcultural Mental Health Centre (TMHC)

State-wide service established in 1993 to support good mental health and enhance pathways to care for culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

Legal Services

Australian Human Rights Commission (AHRC)

Independent third party which investigates complaints about discrimination and human rights breaches. AHRC also provides legal advice to courts, make submissions to parliaments and governments, and initiate research into human rights and discrimination issues.

Department of Communities and Justice NSW

Offers support for everyone's right to access justice and other help for families, and promote early intervention and inclusion, with benefits for the whole community.

Migrant Employment Legal Service (MELS)

A state-wide legal service addressing the exploitation of migrant workers and offers free, confidential legal advice and representation tomigrants and temporary visa holdersin New South Wales.

Refugee Legal

Australia’s largest provider of free specialist legal assistance to people seeking asylum, refugees and disadvantaged migrants.

The Law Society of NSW South Wales

Ensures the general public has appropriate access to justice and can be easily connected to members of the profession when they require legal advice.
