City of Ryde Council is supporting our residents to become more resilient to disasters. As a participating Council in the Resilient Sydney program, we are collaborating with the Councils of Sydney to create a metropolis that is connected, inclusive and resilient.
Also, Council is developing its own local Resilience Plan in order to strengthen the community to become more resilient to the challenges that are presented from chronic stresses and major shocks affecting the local government area.

About Resilient Sydney
Resilient Sydney is a program aligned to the 100 Resilient Cities initiative pioneered by the Rockefeller Foundation. The program is a collaboration of all the councils of metropolitan Sydney, hosted by the City of Sydney.
The Resilient Sydney Strategy (2018) is the first resilience strategy for metropolitan Sydney which calls for business, government, academia, communities and individuals to lead and work as one city. Resilient Sydney’s vision for Sydney is a metropolis that is connected, inclusive and resilient.
Direction 4 of the Resilient Sydney Strategy “Get Ready” is focussed on emergency preparedness. As part of Action 23, Resilient Sydney is promoting the Get Prepared app, co-created by the Red Cross and IAG, across Sydney. Read the Resilient Sydney Strategy here.
