Triangular Spider, Arkys lancearius as photographed by Helen King

The speaker at this event, Dr Helen Smith, is an arachnologist – an expert on spiders – at the Australian Museum in Sydney. In the talk she will provide general information about spiders, covering most of the common questions and a few myths and misconceptions. We will discuss spider diversity in our area and the whole talk will be illustrated by mainly local species. Dr Smith has worked behind the scenes at the Museum since the mid 1990s. There she helps to look after one of the largest spider collections in the southern hemisphere and often gets called on to answer public enquiries.
