Diabetes is a serious long-term condition that can affect the whole body. While there is currently no cure, many people live well with diabetes by learning more about it and managing it effectively. There are three main types of diabetes, and each is complex and serious. Diabetes mellitus, commonly known as diabetes, occurs when there is too much glucose in the blood. This happens when the body cannot make insulin, does not make enough insulin, or cannot use insulin effectively. Over time, high blood glucose levels can damage blood vessels and nerves, which may lead to long-term complications affecting the heart, kidneys, eyes, and feet.
During the session, speakers will cover:
· About diabetes and types of diabetes
· Risk factors and symptoms for diabetes
· Preventing type 2 diabetes
· Complications of diabetes
· Self-management of diabetes
· Diabetes care team
· Healthy diet and physical exercise
