Raise your health information awareness of being stroke safe more effectively

Learn how to better understand being stroke safe at this free community information session.

Join us for an informative and welcoming session at West Ryde Library.

This free session will share practical, easy-to-understand information about being Stroke safe.

Stroke attacks the brain – the human control centre – changing lives in an instant. Your brain is fed by blood carrying oxygen and nutrients through blood vessels called arteries. A stroke happens when blood cannot get to your brain, because of a blocked or burst artery. As a result, your brain cells die due to a lack of oxygen and nutrients.

StrokeSafe sessions are delivered in partnership with the Stroke Foundation, Australia.

During the session the speakers will cover the information below:

  • What is a stroke?
  • The impact a stroke can have
  • How to recognise the signs of strokes so that people can save someone’s life
  • Things people can do to prevent a stroke
  • Where to contact after a stroke.

The Health Promotion Service for Older People (HPSOP) from the Combined Pensioners and Superannuants Association (CPSA) is a community-based health education program that provides free health education sessions for older people in NSW. Established in 1991, HPSOP is funded by NSW Health through the Western Sydney Local Health District
