Celebrate National Bird Week by learning about small birds, their habitat, local garden projects & how to improve your own garden habitats

Do you love plants, your garden and improving the life of your local birdlife?

Join your fellow nature lovers at North Ryde to learn about small birds, why we are losing small birds and what we can do to help them survive. Our facilitator Bev will tell you about The Habitat community nursery and garden in Ryde and 2 of the small bird habitat corridors with which she is involved. She will also be bringing some local provenance native plants to sell ($4 each or 6 for $20 – so please bring some cash on the day if you would like some plants for your garden).

National Bird Week isan annual event organized by Birdlife Australia that takes place in October to inspire conservation efforts and celebrate birdlife. The main activity is the Aussie Bird Count, a citizen science project where people count birds in their local area for 20 minutes, contributing to vital research and data. The week (20-26 October 2025) encourages individuals to learn about and appreciate local birds, participate in counts, and take steps to create bird-friendly environments.

PLEASE NOTE: This event is NOT being held inside North Ryde Library, it is in meeting room of the North Ryde School of Arts Community Centre. The entrance to the meeting room can be accessed adjacent and behind the North Ryde Library, 2nd ramp down the lane.
