Learn to manage your tax as a creative and begin to enjoy the process!

Tax is a necessary pain and managing your tax obligations as a creative means getting your money stuff in order. It’s not fun, but a few simple tips and tricks (and a friendly face) can help.

Tax Time for Creatives covers the basics of tax, the key creative tax rulings you need to know, working out hobby vs business, simple tips for deductions and recording keeping, cloud accounting, and where to get more help. We also introduce the Groovy Accountants. Take the terror our of tax!

Cost - This workshop is free but registration via Eventbrite is essential. Places are limited.

WHO IS THIS WORKSHOP FOR?

Come along if you are a creative of any level – from recent graduate or curious hobbyist to a freelancer or an established arts practitioner. This workshop is open to anyone who lives, works, studies or plays in the City of Ryde.

WORKSHOP FACILITATOR

Monica Davidson, Director of Creative Plus Business Group

Monica Davidson is an award-winning expert on the creative industries, who began her professional life as a freelance journalist and filmmaker. In 2014 Monica completed her Masters degree in Screen Arts and Business at AFTRS, and was appointed as the first NSW Creative Industries Business Advisor by the Department of Industry. Shortly after she founded the social enterprise Creative Plus Business, which is dedicated to educating creative people about small business and marketing skills. In 2019, Monica was awarded the QUT Creative Enterprise Australia award for being a Creative Trailblazer that “advocates, mentors, donates, educates and advises within Australia’s creative economy”. Monica continues to work as a writer, filmmaker and occasional performer.

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS FOR CREATIVES

This workshop is part of a series of free professionally run workshops teaching business and professional skills to creatives in the City of Ryde. These workshops are an opportunity to get expert advice and meet other local creatives.
