Constitution Road Infrastructure Upgrade | Previous Updates

Background

The works on Constitution Road between Belmore Street and the western side of Meadowbank Railway Station, near Bank Street involves work across five separate phases.

Where possible, work will occur in phases to minimise the impact on the community. These include:

  • Installation of traffic lights at Bank Street and Meadow Crescent
  • Construction of retaining wall and widening of the northern footpath on Constitution Road between Bowden Street and See Street
  • Replacement of the Angas Street Bridge for pedestrian and cycle use only
  • Installation of traffic lights at Bowden Street and Constitution Road
  • Widening of Constitution Road between Bowden Street and Hamilton Crescent (including Service Road)

May 2025 Progress Updates

Council invited community feedback via a Have Your Say on the Constitution Road Infrastructure Upgrade concept designs between Wednesday 29 January 2025 to Wednesday 5 March 2025.

Design work was lead by our consultant, WSP, who also provide community and stakeholder engagement support. The outcomes of this process are available in the Community Engagement Outcomes Report. An extended version of the report (including the community engagement methodology) is available here.

Council is committed to ongoing community engagement throughout the project. Council has undertaken a comprehensive environmental assessment, the scope of this includes reviewing the impacts such as those mentioned by our community.

The outcomes of the of the environmental assessment (Review of Environmental Factors) is publicly available in line with the Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulation 2021 and forms part of the project requirements.
