EOI: Dementia-Friendly Libraries Consultation

Senior citizen going through books on library bookshelf

City of Ryde Libraries is proudly working towards becoming a Dementia-Friendly Library Service in collaboration with Dementia Australia.

Dementia is a brain condition and is not considered a normal part of aging. The effects of dementia vary, but generally, dementia affects your mood, memory, thinking and behaviour. While dementia can happen to anybody, it is more common for people after over the age of 65.

To help shape our libraries as Dementia-Friendly spaces, we are seeking feedback from people living with dementia or their carers.

What participation will involve: -

  • A walk-through of one of our branches, followed by a short focus group discussion to share insights on your experiences and how we can make our libraries more accessible.
  • The session will run for 75-90 minutes in total, with breaks and refreshments included.
  • Participants are welcome to bring a support person.
  • Participants will receive a $30 gift voucher as a thank you for their time and insights.
  • Sessions will take place in June, and participants will be contacted by library staff in late May/early June.

If you are interested in participating, please submit your expressions of interest by filling in the form below. Expressions of Interest closes Friday 29 May.

No personal details will be shared without your permission.

If you have any questions, please contact Ryde Library on 02 9952 8352 or at rydelibrary@ryde.nsw.gov.au.
