Know what emergencies can happen in the City of Ryde area

Shocks are sudden events that disrupt a city. City of Ryde and the rest of Greater Sydney are facing shocks including natural hazards and critical infrastructure failure such as power outages. A hazard is anything that could cause harm or problems for people or the environment. Natural hazards include:

  • ABC Radio - provides regular updates during emergencies like floods, bushfires and cyclones. ABC Radio Sydney local frequency is 702 AM.
  • Ausgrid - can provide information on power outage and hazards and can be contacted on 13 13 88 or 13 13 65 for general enquiries (www.ausgrid.com.au)
  • Bureau of Meteorology website (www.bom.gov.au) or app for weather warnings

Know who can help you during an emergency

Call 000 if emergency assistance is required for fire, injury/illness or threat to safety.

The State Emergency Service (SES) help the community prepare for, respond to and recover from severe storms, floods and tsunamis.
