Following the City of Ryde Council Meeting adjournment from last night (Tuesday 29 April) due to a fire alarm evacuation interrupting proceedings, the meeting will be held tonight, Wednesday 30 April, at 7.00pm.

As part of our Waste reduction awareness initiative, City of Ryde is partnering with local schools to create an art competition based on litter awareness.
City of Ryde is home to wide variety of natural spaces and biodiversity including 71 Parks and reserves totally 205 hectares. Bordered by Parramatta river to the south and Lane Cove river to the north and east, Ryde is pivotal in keeping the waterways and parklands clear of litter. Plastic litter is a source of harm to both our environment and our health. We need to encourage everyone to recycle and put litter where it belongs. Your art could help us do that.
In their drawings, students are encouraged to think about how litter affects our outdoor spaces and marine life and be a recycling hero.
Winning drawings will be displayed in Ryde Library as well as on infrastructure throughout the Ryde Local Government Area (LGA).
Council welcomes all students aged 5-12 who live, work or play in Ryde LGA to participate in our anti-litter art competition.

Terms and Conditions
All entrants must attend a primary school located in the City of Ryde.
All entries must be original work of the artist. Artworks previously exhibited in other prizes and exhibitions are still eligible. For cultural sensitivity reasons, artworks that contain certain unauthorised use of Indigenous symbols, motifs or styles are not eligible. Works that are considered offensive will not be selected.
Artwork for the competition will be selected by a judging panel of City of Ryde staff. Students will be notified their artwork was selected by Sunday 11 September 2022.
Winning drawings will be displayed in Ryde Library as well as on infrastructure throughout the City of Ryde.
Applications can be submitted via email from the school on behalf of the student. There is no entry fee to apply for the competition. Applications close on Sunday 4 September 2022. The artist’s name, age and school name must be included in submissions. Artworks should be A4 portrait and must be high quality, no larger than 5MB.
Artist’s own the copyright of their work and licence the City of Ryde to use the submitted images and take photographs of the artwork that can be used for the publicity, press releases and other promotion in print or on the City of Ryde website.
In the event of a dispute regarding the interpretation of these terms and conditions, the decision of the City of Ryde shall be binding on all parties. By submitting their artwork the artist acknowledges they have read, understood and accepted all the terms and conditions of this agreement.
