Chinese Arts & Literature Reading Group (Mandarin) 中华艺术与文学阅读书友会（普通话）
City of Ryde Libraries is delighted to announce the launch of our Chinese Arts & Literature Reading Group, in partnership with CMRC (Community Migrant Resources Centre).
The Chinese Arts & Literature Reading Group allows Mandarin speaking readers to meet others to gain insight into Chinese culture, history and creativity through various Chinese arts and literature.
The Group will meet at Ryde Library every second Wednesday of each month from 1 pm to 3pm.
The group is designed to offer an inclusive and engaging experience for Mandarin-speaking participants. Each month, we will focus on a specific topic for discussion and presentation about Chinese arts or literature or drawing through an extensive selection of literature, poetry, art, and historical texts.
What to look forward to:
Literary Exploration: includes both classical and contemporary Chinese literature.
Art Appreciation: Explore into the world of Chinese art, including traditional ink painting, calligraphy, porcelain, and pottery. We'll examine famous artworks, discuss their significance, and understand more of the masterpieces.
Philosophy Exploration: Explore the profound philosophical ideas of ancient Chinese thinkers like Confucius and Laozi. We'll delve into their timeless wisdom and discuss how their philosophies continue to influence our everyday life today.
Guest Speakers: Occasionally, we will invite authors and artists who will provide deeper insights into various aspects of Chinese arts and literature.
