Artist in Resident 2024/2025 | LOUISA CHAN

We are proud to announce that local painter and mixed media artist, Louisa Chan, has been selected for the 2024/2025 Artist-in-Residence Program.

Louisa utilises her art as a transformative language to uplift mental health, inspire and bring healing and engagement across diverse communities. Louisa’s work explores the intersection of art and neuroscience, particularly focusing on how creativity fosters brain healing and mental well-being. Louisa’s aim is to demonstrate the power of art to enhance cognitive function, emotional resilience and overall mental health, thus contributing to a healthier, more connected community.

Find out more about Louisa on her website or social media.

The Artist-in-Residence (AiR) Program focuses on the development of artists by providing recipients with a spacious studio environment in which to pursue and further extend their art practice. It also provides an opportunity to foster a dialogue about the benefit of art on individuals and the community.

The studio space is at Westward Cottage in the heart of Ryde and next to Top Ryde City, at 8 Turner Street Ryde. Rooi Ping Lim has been our resident sketcher for the past year now and has had some outstanding work presented and workshops created for the community.

Open Studio: Fridays from 6 June to 25 July, 2 pm to 3pm

Drop in to Westward Cottage (8 Turner St, Ryde) and visit this wonderful space. Meet Louisa Chan and use the opportunity to network and talk all things creative. This is a drop-in session during the allocated times and days above - no registrations needed.
