Inclusion and Access Working Group

Applications for the Inclusion and Access Working Group are now closed.

The primary role of the Inclusion and Access Working Group is to provide advice to Council to enhance the City of Ryde, as an inclusive community that is accessible for all residents and visitors so they can actively participate in all aspects of community and civic life.

Composition of Working Group

  • All Councillors are eligible to attend and participate in each City of Ryde Working group, without formal membership, in accordance with their Terms of Reference.
  • A maximum of fifteen (15) community representatives.

Community members must be people who are, but not limited to, at least one of the following:

  • People with disability.
  • Carers of people with disability.
  • Representatives from community groups/organisations representing people with diverse backgrounds, interests, and abilities.
  • Representative of the LGBTIQA+ community.
  • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islanders.
  • Persons with specialist skills and experience relevant to access and inclusion.

Priority of membership will be allocated to Ryde residents, Ryde ratepayers and local business owners.

Selection Criteria

Nominations will be assessed by Council against the following criteria:

  • Demonstrated understanding of access and inclusion developments.
  • Previous contributions to improving access and inclusion in the community.
  • Strong connections with local organisations that aim to support an inclusive community.
  • Experience with community initiatives that that aimed to remove barriers that hinder people from being involved in the community.
Meeting Structure

All Working Group meetings will be “hybrid” meetings with attendance either in person or via remote audio-visual attendance permitted.
