The winners of City of Ryde’s 2023 Sustainable Waste 2 Art Prize (SWAP) were announced last week at Meadowbank’s See Street Gallery ahead of an exhibition at the gallery until Thursday 14 September and online for the whole month.
City of Ryde Mayor Clr Sarkis Yedelian OAM said he was highly impressed by the quality of entries for this year’s SWAP – an environmental art competition for people aged 10 and over who live, work, and play in the local government area.
“The standard of entries was truly incredible and encapsulates the wonderful creative talent in our City,” he said.
“This competition is something we do every year to raise awareness of environmental issues and encourage positive behaviour change using artworks and design objects from upcycled waste materials as mediums of communication.
“At City of Ryde, we are committed to promoting sustainable living, waste reduction, biodiversity of our natural habitats and resilience in our community.”
