City of Ryde has partnered with RecycleSmart for a 12 month trial of collecting and recycling hard-to-recycle items.

RecycleSmart will collect from your doorstep selected items that can be recycled but can't go in your recycling bin.

They collect:

  • Soft plastics
  • Small e-waste items (excluding items eligible for a Television and Computer Collection Service)
  • Textile - wearable and non-wearable
  • Batteries
  • Blister packs
  • Polystyrene
  • Coffee capsules
  • Cookware
  • Toys

Check the full list here.

How does it work?

  1. Gather your recyclable items from the above list into two shopping bags
  2. Book your service on RecycleSmart app or the website and specify where you will leave your items.
  3. Leave your bags on the collection day before 8am at the specified location for the driver.

As a City of Ryde resident, you are eligible for a free recurring collection - simply choose "Council Partner Plan" on the Pickups page. Your Power Pickups will be scheduled depending on availability.

RecycleSmart will collect 2 bags per pickup. Please wait until you have two full bags to organise a collection. This helps us ensure the service is efficient and as sustainable as possible.

Please note that this program is a 12-month trial service (due to end on 13 December 2024) and is only available to City of Ryde residents. To allow everyone the opportunity to try the service, bookings are limited to a maximum of two bags per collection.
