Granny Smith apples are the best.
Rich taste from east and west
Always green,
Never red, I’m thinking of them in my head.
Never too sweet never too sour
‘Yummy!’ I can eat those for hours.
So where do you get the seeds from? How do you plant it? Where and how?
‘Mum I can’t do my homework now!’
I’m feeling hungry, what do I get?
The Granny Smith apple that’s the bet.
‘Hmm’ Get a kettle make some tea, get a Granny Smith apple pie with some ice-cream please.
Years K-4 Runner-up: Jack P.
Granny Smith Festival
Rides and stalls
An apple a day keep the doctor away
Nice and crunchy
Nibble, nibble, nibble
Yummy apple pie
Started with one person
Maria Ann “Granny” Smith
In 1868
Thought she’d made a mistake
Had grown the first ever green apple
Years 5-8 Winner: Fiona C.
It started with a crab-apple,
Maria Smith threw it with a tackle.
Then it grew into a tree.
Oh! How amazing it can be!
It was just a coincidence,
but it gave her diligence.
Because even a normal girl,
can become as glorious as a pearl!
The colour of this pearl is unique
and I will give you a peek.
The colour of this apple is green,
when it is seen!
Although this apple is sour,
it has a lot of power!
This apple is also crisp,
but the story ends with a twist!
Years 5-8 Runner-up: Selena S.
Our Beloved Granny
Some people, they say that women aren’t equal
So those who are here ya’ll listen all people
You better not blink cuz there’s no sequel
All people are equal
So, no discrimination
In culture or skin
No elimination
Our mistakes are made again and again
But hear oh hear drag over your friend
And make them hear
Finish your beers
2023 this one special year
It's time to celebrate for the time has come
Our great loved granny
Renowned as a nanny
Orchardists they are
And once on a garden away very far
They found an apple seedling afar
It used to be a plain ol’ plant
But what replaces, oh what a grant
A green apple seedling, and what would enchant
This young lady to chant
That all she is known for
Is an apple replant!
