The Armistice of the Korean War is commemorated on the 27th of July each year and is recognised as the day that the Korean War ended in 1953.

2025 marks 72 years since the armistice which brought the Korean War, a conflict between North and South Korea, to an end.

Australia was the second country after the United States to commit to sending troops in support of South Korea. Over 17,000 Australians, including almost 100 Ryde-born residents, served during the Korean War, of which 340 were killed and over 1,216 wounded.

The City of Ryde will be unveiling a Korean War Memorial and hosting a flag raising ceremony in honour of the Australians who served in the Korean War.
