Join us for the 2024 Sustainability Festival, in celebration of World Environment Day. This event promotes sustainability, resilience, and environmental awareness.

This year's festival will be held on Sunday 2 June 2024 from 10.00am - 2.00pm at Anzac Park, West Ryde. 

We have a fresh new look this year! Bringing it back to nature and our roots.  A chance to be a be part of something bigger, showing how we can individually make a difference, while we work towards restoring the world we live in together!

Ever felt confused, scared or overwhelmed by all the environmental buzz words? Us too!  This festival is here to show you that you can make a real difference. We help you demystify and understand living a sustainable lifestyle and see that it doesn't have to cost a lot or take up all your time – we'll prove it to you!

This year we're putting a spotlight on Waste reduction, Resilience, Net Zero and Sustainable living, Sustainable transport and Natural Areas. With over 30 information, market stalls, interactive activities and workshops its going to be a fantastic day.

  • Visit the Australian wildlife display animal talk commencing every 30 minutes. 
  • Come and experience the bush adventures and river show with craft and tactile activities for all ages. 
  • Get involved with hands on activities demonstrating solutions to big sustainability challenges at the Macquarie University tent. showcasing renewable wind and solar energies, efficient robots for more sustainable agriculture, and using fruit to capture light and produce solar energy!
  • Stop in at Veolia for some games that show you recycling can be fun, it’s not just great way to help our environment.
  • Pop by the Australian Environmental Education (AEE) stall to create an insect friendly hotel or touch and feel display. 
  • Drop past the Sydney Water tent to play their game and learn about the origin of our water.
  • Bring a picnic and enjoy acoustic music in the morning by the talented Amanda Thomas, followed by some fantastic all age inclusive music session with Spaghetti Confetti while playing a game of giant Jenga or Connect 4.
  • Become a ‘Resilience Ready Resident’ it might sound fancy, but it's just about being strong together. Building a community that is ready to face challenges together.
  • Find out why natural areas and biodiversity is so important and learn how to improve biodiversity starting in your own backyard.Join in workshops, chat with experts, meet awesome people, hear inspiring stories, and leave with easy ways to be more resilient and help our planet every day.   

Parking is limited, so we encourage attendees to use sustainable transport modes. Anzac Park is conveniently located close to West Ryde train station. For those who ride their bikes to the festival, park your bike at the City of Ryde transport tent for a free goodie bag and a free bike safety check from Fix N Ride. 

Food and Drinks - Cafés are located nearby on Ryedale Road, West Ryde Parade, in the Ryde Eastwood Leagues Club or bring your own picnic. Water refill stations will be available in the park. We encourage you to bring your water bottles, cups, containers and cutlery for food and beverages purchases.

City of Ryde “Sustainability Festival Survey 2024 Survey Prize Draw” – Terms and Conditions

  • The City of Ryde “Sustainability Festival 2024 Survey Prize Draw” Promotion commences at 12:01am Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) on Sunday 2 June 2024 and closes at 11:59pm AEST on Sunday 9 June 2024.
  • The Promoter is City of Ryde of Building O, Level 1, 3 Richardson Place, North Ryde 2113, ABN number 81 621 292 610.
  • Entry into the promotion is open to residents of NSW, Australia who are 18 years or older.
  • City of Ryde employees, contractors and councillors of The Promoter may respond to the survey; however, they are not eligible for the prize draw associated with this promotion.
  • Only one (1) entry per person is permitted.
  • To be eligible, participants must complete the City of Ryde Sustainability Festival Survey online at www.surveymonkey.com/r/CoRSustainabilityFestival24.
  • Participation in the Promotion by completing the above step is deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions.
  • Participants who do not provide a valid Australian telephone number/email and their name will have their entry voided.
  • In the event that an entrant’s contact details change during the competition period, it is the entrant’s responsibility to notify the Promoter.
  • The winner will be drawn at random from eligible participants on Tuesday, 11 June 2024 at Building O, Level 1, 3 Richardson Place, North Ryde.
  • Total prize pool is $100. From the entries, two (2) winners will be randomly selected to win one of two Anystore gift voucher valued at $50.
  • The competition is a game of chance and prize winners will be drawn at random. No purchase is necessary.
  • Each winner will be notified by telephone and/or email, with details of how to redeem the prize. Winners will be notified within two days of the draw taking place.
  • Winners may be published in City of Ryde documents and on City of Ryde social media channels. They may also be published on the ryde.nsw.gov.au website and in local press.
  • By entering the prize draw, winners consent to their name being published as a winner of the prize draw and to participate in any publicity accompanying or resulting from this promotion in printed and/or online formats.
  • The prize must be taken as offered. The prizes, or any unused portion of the prizes, are not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be redeemed as cash. The prizes are not valid in conjunction with any other offer.
  • Each winner may elect to collect the gift card or voucher in person from premises of the Promoter or provide a valid Australian delivery address. The Promoter takes no responsibility for gift cards or vouchers lost in the postal system.
  • Gift cards and vouchers are subject to the terms and conditions imposed by the gift card provider. Once issued, the Promoter is not liable for any gift card or voucher that has been lost, stolen forged, damaged or tampered with in any way.
  • The prizes, or any unused portion of the prizes, are not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be redeemed as cash. The prizes are not valid in conjunction with any other offer.
  • If the prize is not claimed within two days of the prize draw, the relevant winner’s entry will be deemed invalid and the Promoter will conduct an unclaimed prize draw.
  • If a prize unavailable, for whatever reason, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute the prize for a prize of equal or greater value, subject to State Regulation.
  • The Promoter will not be responsible for any entries that are not received for any reason, by the closing date and time, whether lost, delayed, corrupted or otherwise, and whether or not due to any technical difficulties or malfunctions.
  • The Promoter reserves the right to request that winners provide proof of identity and/or proof of residency in order to claim the prize. In the event that the winner cannot provide suitable proof (as determined by the Promoter), the Promoter reserves the right to disqualify the entrant. No substitute will be offered.
  • The Promoter will disqualify any individual who has tampered with the entry process or any other aspect of this competition. A Participant who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these terms and conditions or who has, in the opinion of the Promoter, engaged in conduct which is fraudulent, misleading, deceptive or generally damaging to the goodwill or reputation of the competition and/or the Promoter. This includes, but is not limited to, participants using multiple email addresses, postal addresses, PO boxes or SIM cards to register single or multiple entries for an individual.
